This Norwegian band are definitely 'Cardiacs Alike'. Apologies if they've been mentioned here before but the search function turned up a blank. Just discovered them recently after they were recommended on another forum and I think they're great. Their most recent album 'Songs From A Solitary Home' (the only one I've acquired so far) is brilliant.

Haven't posted on here for ages...but this lot are fvcking ace. They love Cardiacs but aint no rip-off. Both their albums so far are excellent. Chock-block with melody, weirdness and quality musicianship. Well worth checking out if you haven't yet. My fave tracks are "Heart of Hickory" and "I am Erica" for starters.

Wow, this band is blooming brilliant...!

Re: Major Parkinson
I can't emphasise enough how spot on the previous posters are... This band are the real deal. Without question the most exciting new Cardiacs influenced band I've come across for years. Completely individual in their own right, but clever, inspired, unique, the album brought a huge smile to my face.
For those who haven't yet heard their stuff, try them. A huge thanks to Chaffinch for finding them. A live date in the UK would be fantastic.

You're welcome...someone mentioned them on the 'Cook'd and Bomb'd' forum (a fair few Cardiacs fans on there it seems), otherwise I'd never have come across them myself.
New album out soon apparently!
Re: Major Parkinson

Re: Major Parkinson
Managed to get hold of Both albums on 'tinternet... On the strength or recommendations and a quick listen to one or 2 bits of tracks to get the vibe...
http://majorparkinson.bandcamp.com
The first, and best... only available to download - best tracks 'Bicycle!' & 'Meat Me In The Disco' (IMO) The second, download only or download with CD - went for the latter...
Very interesting parallel universes - though Cardiacs of course much better.
I'm also a long time fan of Ozrics and found a band from Finland called 'Hidria Spacefolk'...

Leaving early - just before the hour - a few minutes won't make any difference, not to me anyway... the early bird catches the worm.
I don't really want to go in tomorrow - the man will tell me off for leaving early yesterday...

Re: Major Parkinson
Bought the second Major Parkinson album via their website and when dispatch of the CD was delayed due to running out of discs, the keyboard player sent me both CDs and a t-shirt to make up for the wait. Very happy indeed.

For those who are not aware: Major Parkinson have started a crowd funding campaign, in order to finalise the third album(and do other stuff like making vinyls):
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/major ... nema-vinyl
5.436€ have already been raised. Their goal is 13.000€. 18 days left to reach it.

That a talented band like Major Parkinson, which plays very clever and compellingly twisted pop, can't make it as self-funded artists in a country as dedicated to the arts as Norway is quite a commentary on the state of our musical culture. What, exactly, would they have to do to get the kind of label support taken for granted by Oasis, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys?
Thank goodness for the superfans who put their shoulders to the wheel in calls like this ...

I just stumbled upon this before logging in here and seeing your post. Uncanny timing as the total had reached 13.002 when I had a look 5 minutes ago!
Their new album is called Twilight Cinema and is coming out in January.

Here's a sample (rough mixes). Sounds good to me, looking forward to this immensely!
