Ok, I've been playing DarkSouls II and then for some light relief from that I've been trying to prise my kneecap off with a fork.

Isn't it. But of course the elation each time you find a way to do the impossible. I miss many of its parts, that kvnt of a game. Being trapped in a room with those three tall twats made me give up entirely for a while and feel rotten about it, so when I met the gargoyles not much later I thought oh fvck this, but then I somehow managed to do them in only three goes. I liked the Gutter and that place with the ship the best. Still to play the first one.

As a stealth and Amnesia fan, and a sound design and graphic design fan, Alien is amazing so far.

Reading back through some of this thread I'm faintly embarrassed by my tendency for hyperbole. Though points to me for not using the words "stunning" or "superb". Hate that.

Hello. Reports of my wealth are exaggerated.


I did Dark Souls the First after all that, and it went straight into my top three games evarr. Something that I yearn for in a game is a real sense of place, and the interconnected world of Dark Souls borders on g*nius. It is also, of course, a rather hard game.

I'm currently playing through the latest Cinematic Mod of HL2; just kicking my heels for DS3 in April really.

This PC (i7/980 an'shit) also gave me a chance to retry Watch_Dogs because I foolishly bought that when it came out and could never run it. They managed to leave any actual fun out of that game and I await GTA V instead.

Lick my hindsight: GTA V is a big empty sensation, while Watch_Dogs bothered with properly designed missions, a little innovation at least, and better AI borrowed off Far Cry I think. Eat my controversial opinion: W_D was a better game than GTA V.

I hate that cover, I hate everything about it. Those fans are the same sort who went on about the cake too much in Portal. I only play Dark Souls offline, because lonely desolation is what it's all aFUCKINGboutOBVIOUSLY. Lonely desolation, masochism, and occasional disproportionate joy by way of small and ultimately futile victories. I enjoy cashing in any multiplayer-related inventory as soon as I find it, and using the cash to buff up my thing in an ultimately futile manner. It's just like real life, flick to kick.

Dark Souls III is indeed a love letter to Souls fans, with nowhere near enough bonfire anxiety and an overly cosy hub, but it is stonkingly well devised and made, and being not quite as hard as the previous titles, it's a perfect entry point. Offline of course.

As usual nothing else seems worth playing now. I rashly got Kerbal and Doom thinking they'd be complementary opposites and am not really enjoying either.
