Yeah well, we hand out loads of money to overseas disasters yet the government puts their fingers in their ears when it comes to helping out anyone from this country.

I'm sure the Button Mushrooms will play a gig for this! Usually the cash goes to our local 'Born Too Soon' unit but I can get a special diversion cash sign made for our next gig (which hasn't even ben arranged yet) if you want

I also think it's more than "helping out one person", it's a wonderful statement from this little community that is the Maresnest, proving that although we live far away from eachother and it seems it's all about chatting about our favorite band(s), the people in here really get connected and feel they can do something to help the other fellow fish one way or another...

If you could get a decent venue in- or out-of-doors, in the area of London presumably - get even one of those bands to appear, plus whoever from the Mares Nest pool of talent! Have a bar-b-que and a raffle of some kind.

And then a PayPal account for those of us too far away to attend... 8)

what is possible, who knows any big bands that will pull abig crowd well enough to get them to play for free?
any other ideas for fundraising?

I'm pretty sure my bandmates are willing to play, but I'm not sure if we play the right type of music. Usually people will pay money for us to STOP playing, so maybe we should offer that?
