Benefit concert for Carli's leg

Postby frostbyte » Sat Jul 21, 2007 09:36

as partly described here http://www.cardiacs.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=34780#34780

the idea is to have a benefit concert to raise money for a new leg.
now, i would really like to pull this off, but we need lots of people here to help, most of us are in bands so that shouldnt be a problem.
the biggest problem is logistics, we are all in different countries so it might be easier to have separate concerts in different countries, plus that way we can maximize the prceeds too, if we do 1 gig, we'd need a 1000 people to attend, if we do 4-or 4 different ones we only need 250-300 per gig.

anyway, what are everyones thoughts on this one?
what is possible, who knows any big bands that will pull abig crowd well enough to get them to play for free?
any other ideas for fundraising?

post it all in this thread.

well, we need organisational talent as well as musicians, we need a flyer/poster to be made, we need allsorts really but first of all we need a location and some bands willing to play.

Maybe someone could get in contact with Mary about involvement from the band, see if any of Tim or Kavus's side projects would be interested in helping (I'm sure we'd all love to see Tim do a solo set, and what an excuse!). Maybe contact Bill Drake too? If we're really being serious about this, we should definitely try. "If you don't ask, you don't get", as they say.

Anyway, I'd love to play, and help out if there's anything else I can do.

Ask Authority through the MySpace? The worst they can say is no. They'd pull a crowd I reckon, no? Ask Little Trophy maybe? They're great. I dunno, might be doing both those bands down to ask them to gig for free but it is for a good cause.
Whenever I've had any form of contact with the Authority boys they've been very friendly and open. Nick and Em from Little Trophy are beautiful people too.

Well as I've told we're not a "performing" band anymore (not yet anyway) but off course I'd love to help out on the flyers/posters/art department.

Anything for a good nice leg....

Carli's been having problems with her leg of late, no? Hence needing a new one. Imagine walking around all day in shoes that rubbed blisters so bad you ended up with Celulitis and see how you liked it?
My friend Pat is a double amputee and is lucky enough to have funding for his legs. Not everyone is.
I do think we should wait and see for Carli's opinion though.
She might not be up for it. Has anyone actually asked her what she thinks? She might be a little embarassed by us all discussing her like this.
The Flood Victims idea is a great one from Steve Adams :)
