should I get these?

Postby seventies » Mon Aug 06, 2012 19:30

I posted this in another thread but I think that thread is frequented by only about six folks... Does anyone else here know the answer?

Is there any reason for me to get this? It seems I already own all these songs on CD now.

Can someone who has it please clarify? Are there any alternate versions or edits, or are these all the same as on the Sea Nymphs and Mrs and Mrs CDs?

Also, this one:

Melancholy World and Freedom and Love are both songs I own on CD. Large Life is on the Affectionate Friends CD, as Lake of Puppies though. Are any of these songs different versions or edits of the original?

Does that Organ single have a version of 'Hymn' on it somewhere? Or was that something else?
That would make bidding worthwhile, if it does, i think.

Yes, the Organ version of Appealing To Venus does have Hymn on it, recorded at Stonehenge.
Hello little doggy,
My, you are a nice dog,
What did you just say then?
You could do some tricks! Oh, good, then will you show me?
My word that's a good one!
Would you like a cigarette?
No you can't, they're bad for you!

The Ebay "Appealing..." is on Organ but the track listing is given as:-

1. Appealing to Venus
2. Gods box
3. Up in Annies room
4. Shaping the river

Bonus tracks
5. Little creations
6. Camouflage

The picture is too small for me to read directly from the photo supplied, so is there a bonus track 7, ie Hymn too drterror?
And if she only had stopped making that hissing noise . . .

The track listing is as follows:

"Appealing To Venus"
"God's Box"
"Up In Annie's Room"
"Shaping The River"
"Little Creations"
"Camouflage"
"Hymn" (not credited on sleeve)

This is from the track listing I put on Wiki many moons ago. Don't understand why Little Creations and Camouflage are indicated as bonus tracks, as this isn't the case. Only Hymn is really a bonus track.

I would have thought seventies might have this one.

Melancholy World on the single is an entirely different recording than on Briny Hooves. I've never been able to decide which one I liked more. The other two are the same as elsewhere.

Perhaps it's the version that was on that early version of Briny Hooves?

There is also a Melancholy World single with 2 bonus tracks, Engleheart and She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain.
I don't know if all the singles have the bonus/(hidden?) tracks though
And if she only had stopped making that hissing noise . . .

I just had a listen, it's different than that one too. The end bit on the older single doesn't have drums and has singing all over it.

She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain was recorded? I'd heard a live version of it before. Anywhere that can be heard? Mine just has the three tracks.
