What Sterbus said about Amon Duul ...it's got a certain Krautrock chilliness.

Re: Tame Impala
watched them on Jools. Too cool for school. Not my thing, but I tried valiantly honest. God I'm getting so grumpy in my dotage.
that name is indeed terrible. It's like a sixth form band's name....!!
Of course, next year I intend to take the charts by storm, thereby proving my point.
Possibly.

I loved the novelty of the first album (see previous page), despite the big guns dissing its knowing retro simplicity. But i really can't be bothered with the new one. I put it on in the car, but it lasted about five minutes before it irritated. They're too samey, i'm too fickle. Maybe one record was enough.
Re: Tame Impala
I like my psychedelia a bit more unhinged than this. I find this album a bit breezy and summery. Does nothing for me I must say. It's not mentally ill enough.
Soggy fish. Soggy.
Re: Tame Impala
Tame Impala gig last night, they came to poor old Richmond VA - not known as a hotbed for indie rock - possibly they mistook it for Chapel Hill NC or even Asheville on the map - but anyway I took advantage of their foolishness and went - hey it was a sold out room and a great, fun show. Everybody there was 22 years old.
The airbrushed shiny TI sound got the benefit of some live volume, tooth and grit. They did some new tunes including one that featured a motorik section that seemed to go on, slowly building, for 7 or 8 minutes!
Elephant fuvcking rampaged.
Heartily recommended.
End of report

I think this stuff it's way better if you listen to it at night in the car and not live in the sun in a festival!
Just like when Low opened for Radiohead in Firenze, everyone booed them and they ended saying "thanks for being so cruel to us"
