....fvcking brilliant.

it just go's to show you.. Tim can make a whole album in one week..one week!..& still be one of the best things ive ever heard.

anything Tim Smith touches turns to gold.

Or, he can make four albums (or something) in eight years.

It would be nice for us if Tim felt the need for some quick pocket change and cranked out another volume like this! Some of these tunes contain snatches of other things to be, on HBaEB and StG, I think, I hear a bit of 'Helen and Heaven' here, a chord change from 'Dirty Boy' there. It's like some drawings from a painter's sketchbook, filled out a bit and colored in.

I wish I had one of those jobs, like the guy at the bookstore, who reads all day by the cash register and gets to play whatever music he wants all day long...I would have this cd and Spratleys Japs in heavy rotation, for the benefit of the customers. Seems overall friendlier to casual ears than the full-frontal assault of Cardiacs.
Listening to 'Bug From Heaven' right now, how could anyone not like this?
'Swimming With the Snake' is the best thing on here, though I hated some of the keyboard sounds at first!

Been listening to this a lot this end of the week. People elsewhere have said how they don't like the Snake one, and i think it's the only one one the album that i don't like. I was thinking over the last few days that this is a real Pop record, and if this sort of sound was actually very Popular, it would be a very odd sort of world, well very different anyway. Same with Spratleys Japs, bust something to gas or fumes or something by the B52s.

Re: Snake, it doesn't really sound like anything else in the Tim & Cardiacs canon, does it?
I love the multi-tracked and harmonizing vocals particularly, a thing of great beauty.

ok, here's the deal, we all stop buing cardiacs and related products, and stop going to gigs, then, they wont make any money, so tim will have to make a quick album for some cash, then we all start buing again.

it might just work!!!

Ah, the Lisystrata Strategy!

It would never work, we're too weak in the knees.

Hmm not quite... Well, he started it in 1989/90, by '92 it still didn't have lyrics, and he carried on fiddling with it until it finally came out in 1995.

Hmmmm. This is the only Cardiacs related thingy that I've never even heard (apart from the taster on "Sampler" and a couple from live bootlegs). You've all got me chewing my lips in frustration. Oh how I wish the ABC would do another run of this album. I even bid £40 on ebay for it and lost out.
