Greatest Hits

Postby Bispy » Sun Jul 22, 2007 19:00

Anyone know the deal here? What's the intention and where does this stuff come from?

I'm too lazy to find out for myself. Please help.

It says on the back, a "bitter compilation by the most secret, unique, yet biggest cult band this England has ever known."

It intentionally avoids anything like Hits! (Is This the Life, Tarred and Feathered)
I would guess for Tim and co. it was a chance to take some songs out of their usual context, and shine a different light on them -?
Do you know what I mean to say
I meant to say to you today

I try to speak to you today

Greatest Hits was the first Cardiacs album i bought.

Jeezus that was an introduction i can tell you. Definitely not the best way to get ' into ' a band, as other Greatest Hits are supposed to be.

i'm now the proud owner/buyer of all the other albums :) but i've resisted getting this one for £11 just so's i can have one new song (faster than snakes)...

resisted - so far.

but i do think it's cynical / a shame that artists have to encourage maximum £ by offering tiny little tidbits and a lot of duplicate material to the die-hard fans...

I hate Greatest Hits.....and just thinking of Cardiacs AND their "Greatest Hits" makes this a ridiculous release!

*splutter!* you mean you found more than a one-minute excerpt to download? i've looked and looked.

i'd *love* to learn of a link or a site or a url or a etc, pretty please...?

i might even turn my snow-frown upside down and make it a snow-smile!

I think the 'official' line was that the new album was meant to follow close on the heels of the Greatest Hits but then the "computer broke", the songs were lost and it was back to square 1.

I held out from buying it for ages - I only got it last year - but for what it's worth, it's a good compilation and Snakes is a great track worth having.

Cardiacs have done some pish-taking in their time but their 'Greatest Hits' album is surely one of the best . . .

Got it from a torrent off Pirate bay or something. I will have a look into it and let you know.
