As Cold As Can Be In An English Sea

Postby schlep » Tue May 22, 2007 13:44

Listening to the Garage Vol 1 today, this song and performance always really grabs me - this morning I would say it's my favorite Cardiacs tune ever...
Tomorrow I would say different but nevermind.
A nice blending of hard rock, fiddley bits, plus pop melodies that stick in your head and make you sing them out your mouth.

See the light shine above you
See the light shine around you
Sunshine everywhere you go

and

Oh, to be beside the sea
Oh, can't we be beside the seaside
Happens over and over again
Happens over and over again, oh

and of course,

It's a Toy World
(repeat)
Do you know what I mean to say
I meant to say to you today
A day goes by I try thats why
I try to speak to you today

What is it track 3 on that, they always feel well underway by then as it were, just listened to it from Portsmouth 2005 -- it's got bits of everything, and on top of what's said upstairs particularly very nice organy backing tape bits.

Hard rockin', fiddley bits, pop tunes and I almost forgot, oompahs at the end too!
I wonder if Cardiacs have a name for their tapey fifth member who plays keyboards.
