Latest news on Tim's tribute album

Postby Sterbus » Mon Oct 11, 2010 01:26

Taken from the Porcupine Tree forum:

"From Cardiacs' Kavus Torabi on Progressive Ears:

Steve has contributed a lovely version of Stoneage Dinosaurs to a Tim Smith tribute album we're putting together to raise money for his care.

There are some incredible reworkings as opposed to straight cover versions and a few surprising contributors rubbing shoulders with the usual 'Cardiacs family' suspects.

We've had so many wonderful tracks come in that we're having to prune the album a bit, although all the contributions will be available.

I can't go in to too much detail yet, but as soon as we have a release date etc. I'll post something up here.

Steve's continued support has been most helpful.

I hope they stick with the working title that was originally mooted. It'll make people laugh if they do, even if it'll have to be stickered on record store shelves.

Great news :D "although all the contributions will be available. " Maybe they're going to stick the ones that didn't make it onto rapidshare or something.
Looking forward to this now :D

Excellent news! It's especially nice to know that a lot of the contributors are reworking and putting their own spin on Tim's music - always the sign of a good covers album. I'd love it if this was out in time for winterval, but I doubt it will be.

As for the tracks that don't make it onto the album proper, my guess would be that they'll be made available as a download, probably as an extra purchase (t'is all for a good cause, after all).

So, what's this working title then?

It'll be a nice surprise, I'm sure he'll tell us if it doesn't get used, or if I sit on him.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say. There's a very rude swear word in it though.

Am I allowed to say, anyone reading this that's involved?

im happy and confused, happy that theres something to look forward to on the horizon. confused due to the abcs announcement that things were getting back into motion, that statement seemed so positive at the time yet what i hear lately leads me to thinking things are a lot worse than i thought.obviously tims health and well being is the most important thing but the abc gave the impression that tim was getting much better[..quiet a glimmer!.] feckin cardiacs,,more secretive than the cia and the kgb together. we love em all the same
im not going to say anymore after this...except for..

That's my guess too.

Actually, I hope they don't call it anything too depraved - I'm intending to buy copies for just about everyone I've ever met but I don't want to upset the vicar.
