Re: After the London gig?

Afterwards we're likely to be in a high state of excitement and not really willing to go back to our hotel, so where is there to go anywhere nearby that might suit for a few late drinkies/disco dancing? We like our indie, our cheesy metal, a splash of jazz, most things that aren't charty or dancey rubbish actually, and would prefer not to have to dress up for the privilege of paying a fiver for a bottle of fizzy pop.

Any ideas?

Hi Coupey - sorry, only just seen this. The Borderline is literally round the corner and they have an indie-type club night on a Friday (The Queen Is Dead) with a live band on at midnight. I've never been to the club night but the place itself is great - seen lots of bands there. Here's a link: http://www.meanfiddler.com/displayPage_borderline.asp?PageID=353 I'm not sure but you might want to get tickets beforehand.

There shouldn't be any shortage of pubs open late.

Sounds good, but not sure I'll get away with that. Already dragging Mrs C to Arcade Fire at Ally Pally on the Sunday night, doubt she'll take kindly to me hogging our entire weekend away with bands I want to see!

Maybe if I play some NSRO subtly in the background for a few weeks to get her hooked and casually mention they're playing that night I can get her to suggest it for herself

from Napalm Deaths site...

"Shanes favourite band Cardiacs on tour in the UK in November
Hey !!! I just felt like telling everyone about a really important event thats happening in the Uk soon.My favourite band Cardiacs are heading out on tour in november for the first time in awhile and i am pretty fvcking excited.

I have loved this band for many years.

Very hard to describe their sound but thats their beauty - manic punk riffs spiced with chaotic progressive keybord melodies which break down into catchy and memorable passages of greatness and escapism

and we all need a touch of that in our lives dont we??

Their simply isnt a band around today in my opinion that covers such a spectrum of musical feeling and theatrical originality.

If you feel like a dose of enlightenment then please check them out on tour in novemeber, support comes from GOD DAMM WHORES which features GINGER from THE WILDHEARTS as well so thats an extra added bonus too

I will be there for sure

dates are below...cheers Shane"

It might not feature Ginger, I don't know. He recently gave up the bass slot to someone else, but then that was a tour where they were supporting Ginger who was playing with The Scorchers, so perhaps he didn't want to do two slots in one night on that occasion...

Every day on my way to work I walk past the Astoria and see the words "COMING SOON: CARDIACS" in big red letters. It fills me with dread. I mean excitement.

NOVEMBER TOUR 2007
THERE NOW FOLLOWS AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN

In the interest of keeping ‘idle talk’ to a minimum THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN feels the time is RIGHT to officially announce the support acts for Cardiacs forthcoming tour.

THE GOD DAMN WHORES will be opening proceedings.

Anyone who witnessed the CRUSHING ASSAULT and frequent use of ‘blue language’ that ex-Cardiac Jon Poole’s ‘team’ trumped up at last year’s London Astoria concert will testify that this group (fronted by redoubtable colleague of THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN, Jon Poole) must not and WILL NOT be missed.

The God Damn Whores album, ‘We Are The Lucky Thirteen’ is widely available on Round Records and suggested listening.

The God Damn Whores feature…
Jon Poole (ex- Cardiacs/The Wildhearts)
Chris Catalyst (Sisters of Mercy/The Scaramanga Six/Antiproduct)
Jase Edwards (Ginger and the Sonic Circus/ ex-Wolfsbane)
Denzil Pearson (Ginger)

Following The God Damn Whores, yet INVISIBLE to the HUMAN EYE is THE GASMAN.

The Gasman invents and performs beautiful music to help YOU ‘fast-track’ the lonely time between ‘The Whores’ and your beloved Cardiacs. His ‘Sonic Auto Slumber’ will set off a time bomb in your soul that only the most mean-spirited would refuse to detonate.

Will YOU accept the detonation?

The Gasman’s recorded output is legion. His many recordings are available on labels such as Warp, Planet Mu and Sublight Records.

Recordings and merchandise for both support acts will be available at the concerts.

Both acts were requested specifically at Cardiacs and THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN’s behest. Make your early attendance a PRIORITY.

Regarding Cardiacs, and a gentle word in YOUR ear from THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN:

Cardiacs will NOT be performing exactly the same set on every night of the forthcoming tour.

What that might mean is of no concern to you.

YOU, as ever, are STRONGLY ADVISED to buy YOUR tickets in advance.

As YOU will be aware, there are “those out there” involved in booking Cardiacs concerts, hungry for a “quick buck”, that overtly doubt YOUR loyalty to YOUR favorite group. Naysayers in the so called “music business" that would have YOUR FAVORITE GROUP banished from their dank halls if they can’t have their filthy lucre NOW! NOW! NOW!

While THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN would normally suggest you ignore these TORMENTORS, in this case we must demand that YOU bite that ‘rusty bullet’ and placate their weak, palsied hearts and buy your tickets IN ADVANCE.

Disappointment looms for the ’slack hearted’ confident of swanning in ticket less, YOUR entry may prove difficult.

While this forthcoming Cardiacs tour will find YOUR beloved Cardiacs enjoying many of the beautiful enclaves of this Mainland Britain, Cardiacs will NOT be performing in Scotland.

Word has been received by THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN of disquiet ‘North of The Border’ regarding Cardiacs paucity of shows in that region.
THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN wish to make it clear that little or no offence is intended. Cardiacs will only play venues they are booked to perform at.
THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN feel it would be both wasteful and folly for Cardiacs to attempt to perform at a venue they had not been booked to perform at.
It might even be illegal.

YOU may wish to jot the following text into your diary, a helpful shorthand note, abbreviated for YOU with kindness by THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN.

"CARDIACS CONCERT.
Support- The God Damn Whores and The Gasman.
Get there early to see them.
Buy ticket NOW”

CARDIACS.
outstaying their welcome since 1977

With respect,
THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN

THERE NOW FOLLOWS AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN

CARDIACS CONCERT IN LEEDS

We live for so little, and then we are so long dead.

The cynic may argue; "Not long enough!"

THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN does not care whether this "theory"
holds any water or not, however it would seem thet an OVERSIGHT on
our part may have occurred.

Far be it for THE ALL KNOWING CONCERN to admit fallibility, think of
this as an exercise in knowing the efficiency of one's loyal.
A glitch in the mainframe of the so called "information super-
highway" may well have prevented THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN in
informing YOU that CARDIACS will be performing in LEEDS on the 24th
of NOVEMBER at the WOODHOUSE LIBERAL CLUB.

If this is the case, and you had no actual knowledge of this show,
despite it's existence being announced on www.cadiacs.com then
consider this an apology.
