Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

I sorted out my compilation last night. I'll burn copies this evening and get them in the post to you tomorrow.

I laugh at how I anxious I get when doing a compilation like this. So much choice, so little decisiveness!

Re: Prog Head Thread

I'm also a bit of an outsider with King Crimson, because I've always enjoyed In the Wake of Poseidon more than I enjoy In the Court of the Crimson King, and so many people think that's sacrilegious. Neither are as good as 'Red', in my humble opinion. The title track and 'Starless' are just brilliant.

I'm sorry for not posting this sooner but you'll want to know I played Monopoly on Boxing Day. I was the iron.

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

Bob - one CD and 5 copies would be great. And Schlep, you'll be welcome to participate.

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

Okay, we've got 6 definites (Giddy, Trouserpress, Bellyeyed, Snardbafulator, Pheel and Monkton). Unless there are any objections, I suggest we all do a CD for each other, i.e. 6 in total. Bob, you sound strapped for cash right now so, if it helps, you can post all your CDs to me and I'll then post t...

Van Der Graaf Generator - on tour in 2011

Probably old news for those of you who are fans but I just found out Van Der Graaf Generator are touring in Spring. Full details here - http://www.vandergraafgenerator.co.uk/#gigs I've bought a ticket for the gig in Cambridge. It's a standing-only venue - not sure the fanbase will cope with that! Gi...

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

Blimey but we're rolling now, aren't we? Thanks all. Unless there are strong objections, I'll draw up a list of participants tonight (although latecomers will remain welcome) and post details of next steps. I'm already mulling over the content of my CD. I'm torn between songs with a theme or songs f...

I just realised I never acknowledged this in my earlier post. I've not spent much time on Cardiacs Alike subboard but will look to rectify that.

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

...sampling rate. It's not generally an issue when you burn conventional-length CD's made from single LP masters, but many people have the experience burning their own 70+ minute CDs that they sometimes don't work on some players past the 9th or 10th track. Sorry, Bob, I think you're still over-com...

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

...The dif between this and cassette sharing (and I have five CDs of Allan Holdsworth a buddy burned for me, so I'm not any moral puritan here) is that once you have a CD copy, there's no extra-strong reason to go pay money for the music, which was never true in the cassette days. I've participated...

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

Sorta tempted but i might be just too damn lazy :) I'm reminded of that scene in "Dad's Army" where Captain Mainwaring has the boys stood in a line and asks for a volunteer to step forward, only for everybody (bar poor old Pike) to take one step back. "Sorta tempted..." is a 100...

Re: Any interest in a CD swap?

Hi Steve,

Spotify would definitely be cheaper but it won't be used by everybody on here and there's something about the tangible CD (and artwork, for those that can be bothered) that I prefer. Can I count you in?

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF

So, I'm Giddy, 40 years old, married with two kids, and I live in a village in Bedfordshire. I've been massively into Cardiacs since my teens and have been lucky enough to see them live countless times. Favourite album is probably Sing to God (1 & 2 - can't split 'em) but it'll be something diff...

Any interest in a CD swap?

I'm new round here so apologies if this has already happened but I wondered if anybody is interested in compiling a mix CD and swapping it with others in the pond? It's a great way of hearing new music (or not so new - there are no rules) and all it costs are a few blank CDs and some stamps. Just re...
