Yours, Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells. Dear Disgusted, Can I call you Gus? Anyway, Gus, if you thought that was the height of hoovering the hardware of corporate label executives, here's one that Lady Gaga's younger sister is going to sing: Snools and Snergulations Do not listen if you're at risk of ...

Re: The Mars Volta
I was very fond of the first couple of albums and not much after to be honest (though i did feel Bedlam in Goliath was something of a return to form) I don't recall ever hearing Noctourniquet . Worth checking out? I too struggled a bit with albums like Amputechture , and Bedlam to a certain extent ...

Dave Gregory does let his inner prog beast roam free with both Tin Spirits (http://tinspirits.co.uk/) and Big Big Train (http://www.bigbigtrain.com/), both of which are most excellent. Tin Spirits - "Broken" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ngZ9MbOj48 Big Big Train - "Make Some Nois...

The Mars Volta
In keeping with the emerging consensus that being under the heading "Cardiacs Alike" does not necessarily mean "Cardiacs-like", I thought I'd make mention of the now sadly defunct Mars Volta. There is (surprisingly?) little mention of these guys on here.... I'll just say &...

Re: XTC
I've always viewed than as *basically* pop, albeit angular, inventive, off beat and intelligent new wave pop. And I do like it :D Maybe they do "make stabs at being proggy but never really take it off the ground", but then again I don't think that was their aim - they're XTC not ELP :eeeek...

Re: Steven Wilson
How was the Wolves show? I went to the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday - my first time seeing him live. I couldn't stir interest in anyone I know so I went by myself but that did mean I managed to get a single remaining seat right at the front. I loved every second of it. It was good to hear a couple o...

Yes! Planet Rock scores at last. Last Sunday's (repeated on Thursday) "One Man And His Prog", Darren Redick presenting with Steven Wilson as his guest. Steven talks about Cardiacs and picks "Jibber and Twitch" to play :D http://www.planetrock.com/player/?odCat=192&odItem=1403...

Guapo - a question
Ayup all, I asked this on Cardiacs FB group but had little response, perhaps someone here might know? Can someone identify the splendid keyboard sound used in Guapo's "Tremors From The Future", in the first minute or so and *especially* between 5:13-5:37? Even better is there a VST plugin?...
