history WILL judge this record alongside StG as the best Cardiacs, of that I'm sure. i'll say it again: the first five tracks of this album are as good an opening five tracks as any album has ever had, and the rest is pretty phenomenal too. my favourite might well be 'spell with a shell' now, though...

Monkey Dust was my favourite TV programme a couple of years ago, since then Arrested Development has taken over, but it's still brilliant. Nowhere near as astounding as Blue Jam, though.

Wow! This was seriously mindfrapping. All 3 acts drew their manna from the lyre of Orpheus himself. Authority rocked; they had a track called 'The Catalyst', one called 'Southway' and one called 'Rodeo' which will all be guaranteed future classics. I talked to a load of people, including His Timness...

I think you should get to add two and take one away. I can't condone this list whilst Blur remains on it! :o

'Clean That Evil Mud Out Of Your Soul' is this album's D-LS. Keep an ear out for the drums and all will reveal itself...

Haha, these guys really do blow my pinwheel. Awesome in the early days, unfortunately neutered later on when peer-pressure and record-sales got to them. The 3 EPs are incredible (The Patty Patty Sound especially) but their true masterpiece is the rambling sheep-hop Hebrides techno psych-raga epic se...

It's pretty good, but dwarfed by its radio predecessor, Blue Jam, hands-down my favourite programme of all-time. Here's to having every episode... 8)

Poor Guns. As a complete newcomer to Cardiacs I got all their albums at exactly the same time and could therefore judge them simultaneously. Guns has done remarkably well for itself out of this process. In fact, I'd rate it a very narrow second behind Sing To God. I guess the newer line-up appeals t...

Ride, MBV, Yes and Cardiacs are all amongst my favourite bands, and I can tell you that the comparison is apt. All of you MUST get your hands on 'Frengers' and '...And The Glass Handed Kites' as soon as possible; they're astonishing. The last minute of 'Am I Wry? No' has to be one of the most pleasu...

grr, six isn't anything like radiohead, the version of 'six' (the title track) on youtube is the substandard american remix. the album has to be taken as a whole. put 'wide open space' or any of their popular singles outta your head, this stuff's on a whole new paradigm. jackknife musical invention,...

wow, thanks for the welcomings, erm, yeah!

i resent accusations of marillionesqueness for mansun :( they're far more like magazine, if we're sticking around that area of the dictionary.

'six' will blow your MINDS if you haven't heard it yet!

MANSUN - SIX

heaven's sake lads'n'lasses, i've been ghosting this forum for goodness knows how long and i still see no mention of the band, or to be more precise the album, whose questing spirit and musical innovation in my eyes at least lies closest to Cardiacs'. Sing To God is quite possibly my second-favourit...
