Re: A recording of "Hopeless" from the 80s ??

I'm not an Cardiacs expert (I'm a fan since 2010), but I transcribed and studied a lot of songs of Tim and I study music (playing guitar) and composition. When we look at the stuff they played in 1979, the composing style of Hopeless appears to be not like the other tracks, because it is more rhythm...

Re: A recording of "Hopeless" from the 80s ??

I asked the same question on Facebook and I got responses from a guy called "Nova Seven". I post his comments as-is: "I heard that 'hopeless' or 'friends' was going to be the 1st single for cardiacs.." "Its on live tapes from 84 -fetcham and another 1...Pretty sure was origi...

A recording of "Hopeless" from the 80s ??

The Special Garage Concerts double CD is my favourite Cardiacs album and I'm fascinated by the tracks that were unreleased before. Why didn't they record/release those tracks then? There is evidence of all those unreleased songs being played in the 80s on audience recordings/bootlegs...except of one...

CHATO! - Prog-Fusion with Balls

I released an (concept) album including one song that is TOTALLY inspired by Cardiacs The song is called "Pulsh-Hit" and is the 2nd track. I thought you guys probably will enjoy it, that's why I post it here. I quote from the booklet: Another special thanks for inspiration goes to Tim Smit...

Re: St. Vincent

I saw some comments about that band on Facebook and almost all of them didn´t like them. Enclosed was a link to a video of them, playing at Saturday Night Live. Normally when the majority says, they don´t get it, it's my turn. and you know what: I wasn´t completely thrilled, but I enjoyed it. Pop vi...

Re: Look what's new at the Consultant's Memorabilia Collecti

Today I received my mug and the new t-shirt! Now I have 2 t-shirts (one with the Alphabet Business Concern on the back), my plan is: to wear only the first shirt for years till you can´t decipher the front printing...and then I whip out the new one :D

Re: Let's be Frank

I've been listening to an interesting interpretation of Frank's music by french violinist Jean-Luc Ponty- King Kong (apologies if it's already been mentioned). The band also features contributions from George Duke and Mothers drummer Art Tripp as well as Zappa himself on one track. It's not grabbed...

The music is not the greatest, but if you see that they perform somewhere, GO SEE THEM! Such an entertaining live band. And to pull off this music with vocals as a 3-piece band is outstanding to say the least

Re: Reasons why Cardiacs are a complete one-off

- The whole Duck and Roger the horse (maresnest version), but especially the instrumental part in the middle, played staccato shifting around the chords. I´ve never heard something like that from another band, truly unique technique which Cardiacs often uses -RES is a masterpiece, but a truly Cardia...

So the result is a rhythmic minefield. And to confuse the listener even more: The phrase end...
