Re: New Version Of The Seaside
I welled up & blubbed on opening the box set- didn't expect all that confetti which flew everywhere- so many juicy morsels within & plenty of photos of Timmy in his pants- it's a lovely day!!

I Check in regularly but have nothing scintillating to say worthy of a post....
...I think I'm waiting for news on the garage rehearsal DVD to help get me all worked up- some positive news about Tim's progress would be soooo great..

Indie Cindy- Pixies Annabel Dream Reader - The Wytches Cool Planet - Guided by Voices Revelation - Brian Jonestown Massacre The Unravelling - Knifeworld Dude Incredible - Shellac ...this year I have been mostly listening to the mighty Fall, XTC and a little known band called Cardiacs- I highly recom...

(No, let's be fair: many probably read and liked the cover but just didn't leave a comment...)
I loved that!

Re: No, but seriously, where the fugg is everyone.
I'm kind of with Foma, I pop in most days but don't really have anything to add to the 'avant prog in' that seems to be the only active thread- I've checked out the links to see if there's anything I could get my teeth into but it's just not my bag & I consider myself to be fairly eclectic in my...

Re: Kate's Bush
...I don't hold with the Sex Pistols were a manufactured band notion, certainly that's the mythology that McLaren put about in his Svengali mode but Lydon & the rest of the band wrote all the music & lyrics, Lydon also jumped ship when it was clear they would be turning into a cartoon (you c...

Re: Pixies reemergence
...i much prefer that they've stopped the heritage rock tours and have bit the bullet and recorded new stuff- it was anecdotally Kim's resistance to recording new material which created the long wait for fresh tunes so she may of had concerns around 'damaging the brand', who knows?

Re: Where's psparky27?
I wouldn't dream of trying to diagnose any kind of disorder from forum interactions but there's definitely some kind of behavioural element to Trolling or whatever the recent palaver was- it's quite a strange phenomena watching this kind of thing spiral out of control as a bystander but I'm sure it'...

Re: Pixies reemergence
...any opinions on 'Indie Cindy'? I love it- those expecting the un achievable high bench mark of Surfer Rosa or Doolittle will probably be disappointed but as a follow up to Trompe Le Monde my expectations have been exceeded- the album's got at least two killer tracks in Bag Boy & Blue Eyed Hex...

Re: Where's psparky27?
Being a Cardiacs fan in no way mitigates being an asshole. I don't care if he was the biggest Cardiacs-head in the world, let the fucker rot. /thread. Frankly i'm amazed that some here are still willing to sympathise with him about this, "oh, if only we'd tried to engage with him more" &q...

It's a shame he's been booted but I can see why- I watched the debacle slowly unravel on various threads, itching to attempt some kind of mediation (sometimes, possibly foolishly, in Sparks defence) but knew it would be pointless so kept my gob shut...

Re: Great Songs from a newbie's perspective
HB&EB is easily turned from good to great if you chronologically stick the rest of the 'Day Is Gone' EP in amongst it's guts after said tune, leaving 'snakes a sleeping' to cap off the album after 'Plankton'- I've had it put together this way on my Pod for years now & can't hear it any other...

...this song has had me blubbing on two occasions (Green Man & Glasto), possibly due to being emotionally more fragile from excessive partying! It still tugs on me heart strings whenever I hear it though...
