Re: NoMeansNo

He posted a thing on the NMN board at one point saying he was really liking what he'd heard. Mind you that was years ago, I don't know how obsessive he is. I have certainly tried my best to generate some local fans with little success, although I do know of at least two of us (one being Mr. Stocktak...

Re: NoMeansNo

For what it's worth, Ford Pier's a confirmed Cardiacs fan too!

Re: NoMeansNo

i reckon Show Business Giants would go down well in these parts too. (Hissanol, Itch and Ford Pier as well) I've only got the one Show Business Giants album (Maybe It's Just Me) and it is really rather excellent - I just haven't found the time to delve into the rest of the discography! I've got som...

I guessed right!

Bubby, you should definitely hit the show if you can. They're great on record but really amazing live.

Re: NoMeansNo

Haha, well I've already got a guess or two as to who you are. I've been posting as JTD on the NMN (and the old Friends of Incentive page before it) since I was 13. Agreed 100% about NoMeansNo and their live prowess. I've got a ticket to see them in March, can't wait! Pigment Vehicle are another one ...

NoMeansNo

Probably my second favourite band. There must be some folk on here who are into them? I was actually introduced to Cardiacs by a member of the NoMeansNo forum who used to mail mix CDs to whoever wanted one, I think maybe he used to post here at some point. Definitely a punk band, but a very skilled ...

Re: Archive question

I must very crappy rips of Toy World and Obvious Identity then, cos to my ears Archive sounds gloriously fantastic by comparison! Same here, the versions I had were pretty unlistenable, and I don't consider myself a snobby audiophile. I'd love to find decent transfers if they ever surface. Hmm yeah...

Archive question

Hey, apologies if this has been answered before. I'm just wondering if the Archive Cardiacs material (minus the Piffols) are the same recordings from the Obvious Identity and Toy World? The liner notes on Archive say that they songs were recorded between 1977-1979, whereas Toy World was apparently r...

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Cool, will do. There's so many threads it's a little daunting, but I like investigating. Thus far my friends' reactions to them have ranged from outright disgust to slight bemusement to a general appreciation, but nobody's yet 'got it'. I can understand the extreme reactions either way, but I'm kind...

Re: Deep Turtle

Deep Turtle rule, and I'm glad to see Pigment Vehicle referenced, one of my all time favourite bands, and infuriatingly obscure.

Re: INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Hi all, the name's Jordan, livin' in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've lurked here a bit but never posted, but as I'm on my bi-monthly 'listen to nothing but Cardiacs and related projects" binge, I thought it apt to finally post here. I first heard Cardiacs a few years ago when an online gentleman fr...
